Lee Ann loved being a teacher, and she was good at it. She cared about her students, and they knew it. They didn't think twice about asking her for help, and she willingly and enthusiastically gave it.
Although she didn't have children of her own, she loved those she taught. Even when faced with the most overwhelming and frightening news of her life--stage four breast cancer--her thoughts were of her students. When they wanted to raise money for her, she gave it back to them, creating The Zlomek Perseverance in Mathematics Award.
You can help to support the students Lee Ann loved by supporting the scholarship set up in her name. To make a contribution, please send your check, made payable to Mountain Ridge High School with the Zlomek Math Award noted in the memo, to:

Prayer works! God hears every prayer. Whether you're praying for a sick friend, a loved one going through a tough time, or someone you've never met, never underestimate the power of prayer or in the great wisdom of our Lord God.
We prayed that God would heal Lee Ann and save her life. Unfortunately for all of us, that didn't happen. However, despite her failing health, she fulfilled her desire to share God's goodness with others. She inspired many with her faith, and her influence continues today.
She truly lived the verse she loved most: "For I know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him." --Romans 8:28.
Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. --James 5:14-16
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. --Romans 10:9
Whether you already believe or are a new believer, you probably know someone who needs encouragement, who needs the word of God to get him or her through a tough time. Although she had never been very outspoken about her faith before her diagnosis, facing cancer gave Lee Ann the courage and strength to do so. She talked about God's goodness every chance she had: with the staff at the hospital, with her friends and family, and even with a city employee in a very unusual but blessed encounter.
Lee Ann had peace because she had faith and because she had a community of people supporting her spiritually. You can show love to others by talking to them about God. By giving them hope in His promises. By praying for them. And by sharing with them the biblical encouragement that Lee Ann's family and friends gave to her.
It doesn't cost you anything to share your faith, but it's the greatest gift you could ever give someone.
