Within days of her diagnose, Lee Ann's brother-in-law texted her a message.  It simply said: "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.  Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.  Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand.  His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:6-7."  Lee Ann asked us to write the verse down on paper so that we could read it to her again later. 

     Soon after word of Lee Ann's illness got out, the cards, calls, and packages started pouring in.  With them came additional bible verses--words of faith and encouragement.

     Eventually, Lee Ann kept all of those verses--36 unique verses in all--and cards with inspiring and spiritual messages in a decorative book box given to her by our family's dear friends and neighbors, the Spataros.   That box and its contents became a key part of her fight against cancer. 

     Unable to read them herself because of the pressure the cancer put on her brain, Lee Ann asked us, her family, to read the book's contents to her every night before she closed her eyes.  She looked forward to the comfort and peace they brought her as we gathered in her room to read them, and we looked forward to the time spent with her and with God. 

     The verses and cards in that box fortified Lee Ann's faith.  They gave her hope.  They gave her strength.  They gave her the emotional and spiritual "lift" she needed to keep up the fight.

     After we lost Lee Ann, our family decided that the contents of her book box were too valuable to keep to ourselves.  And so "Lee Ann's Lift Cards" were born.  The set contains all 36 bible verses that she received from family and friends as well as text from seven (to total 43, Lee Ann's age at her last birthday) of the many encouraging cards Lee Ann received during her battle with cancer.
